Our client is one of Qatar’s leading and most respected automotive importers and distributors; they are seeking an experienced Legal Manager to join their legal team. The Legal Manager will provide legal counsel, support, and guidance on a wide range of legal matters to ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and company policies. Playing a key role in managing legal risks and supporting business operations, working closely with various departments such as sales, marketing, finance, and aftersales.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Counsel & Compliance
- Advise senior management and business units on legal matters related to imports, distribution, and retail operations.
- Ensure compliance with all local and international laws, regulations, and industry standards, including but not limited to import regulations, taxation, consumer protection laws, and environmental regulations.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the industry and update the management team on potential impacts.
Contract Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including supplier agreements, distributor agreements, dealership contracts, sales agreements, and other legal documents.
- Ensure contracts are legally sound, clear, and aligned with business objectives.
- Manage and maintain contract records and related documentation.
Litigation & Dispute Resolution
- Manage and oversee any legal disputes, litigation, or claims involving the company, working closely with external counsel when necessary.
- Act as a mediator for resolving disputes between internal departments, business partners, or customers.
- Represent the company in court hearings or legal proceedings when required.
Corporate Governance & Risk Management
- Assist in the development and implementation of corporate governance policies and procedures.
- Identify, assess, and manage legal risks associated with business operations, mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships.
- Advise on regulatory and corporate compliance issues to mitigate legal risks.
Intellectual Property
- Manage intellectual property (IP) matters, including trademark registrations, patents, copyrights, and protection of the brands.
- Oversee the protection of proprietary information, technologies, and trade secrets.
Corporate Documentation & Legal Reports
- Maintain and manage corporate records, including incorporation documents, annual filings, and legal reports.
- Prepare and review legal reports, memos, and other documents as requested by senior management.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal perspectives are integrated into business decisions.
- Assist the HR department with labour-related legal matters, including employment contracts, disputes, and compliance with labour laws.
Our Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB), with a Master's in Law (LLM) or an additional qualification preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a legal role.
- Proven experience in handling complex legal matters, including commercial contracts, compliance, and dispute resolution.
- Familiarity with local laws and regulations in Qatar and the broader GCC region, particularly in the automotive sector.
Skills & Competencies
- In-depth understanding of local and international laws, including trade and import laws, consumer protection, and intellectual property.
- Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
- High attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).

As a key legal advisor to the Chairman, you will provide strategic property law guidance that directly supports and influences high-level decision-making. You will be a trusted partner, integral to the teams you collaborate with, shaping outcomes with confidence and expertise.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Offering comprehensive legal advice across a range of property matters, ensuring that risks are fully assessed to support sound business decisions.
- Translating complex legal issues into clear, actionable guidance for the Chairman and his senior advisers.
- Supporting both generalist and specialist legal needs, with a focus on conveyancing and heritage / listed properties.
- Maintaining a pragmatic, commercially focused approach to legal challenges, helping to drive business success.
Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a highly experienced property lawyer, qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales, with a minimum of 6 years’ post-qualification experience who will bring:
- Expertise in conveyancing, heritage properties, and listed building regulations.
- In-depth knowledge of land registration and property regulatory frameworks.
- Desirable experience in planning and construction law.
- A demonstrated ability to provide clear, concise legal advice and manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
